Presenting themselves in 3 varieties:
HL, HHL and PP are easy to keep clean. The HL & HHL, of course, can take either a full bath or a quick wipe down with a wash cloth. The PP, with its long coat, is easily shampooed and blown dry. In any case, either variety is a prima donna with all the glamour of a Hollywood star.
Rich with history, archeologist evidence shows existence of hairless dogs in a variety of areas, including, but not limited to Africa, Turkey, Mexico, Central America, Portugal, South America, China, and the Philippines. Recognized by the AKC since the early 90’s, the breed is gaining in popularity by the elite group who are looking for both a companion and a showy crowd pleaser.
Temperament – eager to please, alert, fearless, defender of home territory, bright, playful, happy hearted, cuddlers, affectionate, loyal and attention lovers.
Color/Coat – any and all, solid or spotted.
Exercise required – Minimal.
Intelligence – Superior.
Environment – House or apartment – not an outdoor dog (HL & HHL requires sunscreen and light jackets for UV protection)
Size/Weight – 9-13 inches at shoulders / 3 to 14 lbs.
Special Care – Low maintenance, occasional loofa or scrub to keep skin flawless. Regular bathing, nail and teeth maintenance, jackets in cold weather. A simple shaving of the face provides a fresh faced appearance with popular appeal that exposes the delicate features of the dog.
